Contact the stewards if your greyhounds are ill

\"\"By MARK AINSWORTH APM, Acting Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner

Greyhound Stewards are calling on participants to inform them if any of their greyhounds are falling ill.

There have been some recent incidences where greyhounds have been suffering from what appears to be a highly infectious 24-hour illness causing several dogs to be scratched from race meetings. The symptoms include scouring.

The stewards are yet to identify what the illness is, but they have asked that if greyhounds are ill they should be quarantined from the rest of your kennel and not be brought to the track. The Stewards will keep the industry informed when the illness is identified.

The Racing Integrity Commission Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) in North is moving.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have moved away from the kennels at Black River.

I would like to thank our north Queensland trainers for their understanding at this time.

We want to make sure that you are aware that the GAP is no longer situated at the Black River Boarding Kennels.

We are working hard to arrange a new home for NQ GAP and we will announce our new location soon when we finalise negotiations with our new hosts.

In the interim period the GAP team is pre-assessing your greyhounds for entry into the program and dogs will be accepted as soon as possible.

Greyhounds that are ready for pre-assessment for entry into GAP are continuing to be added to a waiting list and a GAP team member will contact you when a place becomes available.

To streamline the intake process we are asking that you submit a current C5 vaccination certificate and a completed GAP Health Pre-Screening form and submit to gap@qric.qld.gov.au

A GAP team member will contact trainers and owners on the waiting list when a place becomes available for your greyhound.

The GAP team is here to support you and if you need further information please email gap@qric.qld.gov.au
